This Winter Concert is set to take place on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Woods.
Joe Striplin, the conductor of the Grosse Pointe Symphony Orchestra, will lead the orchestra through an incredible program. Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 1 will be the highlight of the concert, with Marina Stojanovska taking the lead as the pianist. The orchestra will also be performing Vaughan Williams’ London Symphony and Joshua Suite for Strings by Augustus Hill. Speaking of Augustus Hill, the preconcert lecture at 2 p.m. will include an opportunity to meet him. Davis Gloff, from WRCJ, will be giving the lecture, and the audience will have a chance to learn more about the pieces being performed and the people behind them.
